Bacon, bacon, bacon! Do we have your attention? What if we could tell you there was a company that understand not everyone can eat pork, and they are still able to offer amazing bacon? It’s Beef Bacon! Introducing Schmacon! Schmacon is smoked and cured glazed beef slices that won the FABI (Food & Beverage Innovations) 2014 Award! It’s beef’s answer to bacon! Here are just some of the perks to Schmacon:
* All beef taste
* Less calories, fat and sodium than pork bacon (compare 12-15 gram serving of bacon (60-90 calories) to 30 calories for Schmacon)
* Deli-inspired spices give it a bold flavor
* Crisps faster than pork bacon
* Nitrate-Free
* Gluten-Free
* Crisp and serve – it’s already been brought to its fully cooked temperature
* Carefully trimmed, whole muscle beef with no fillers added
I was sent some fresh Schmacon to review – and oh! This stuff is SO good!! It offers a smokey beef flavor that can be crisped to add crunch. Does it taste like pork bacon? Of course not! It’s BEEF! But it does have a really great flavor and the crispness that pork bacon offers. l would definitely compare the taste of Schmacon to tender, sweet beef jerky. You won’t find the salty, fatty taste of pork bacon in Schmacon, which actually makes it better for you.

I sizzled some in a pan on the stove, and baked another batch in the oven to see how different cooking methods would affect the Schmacon. I can honestly say that there really wasn’t a difference! The oven cooked my Schmacon to perfection in about 7 minutes. Only SEVEN minutes for bacon! There was far less grease in the pan, as well, so that makes for a much easier clean-up. One of the best parts about Schmacon, is that it allows for minimal shrinkage when cooking – unlike pork bacon that shrinks quite a bit.

I tried another fun idea, as well – after baking the Schmacon in the oven, I drizzled some melted white chocolate across the pieces, and then dipped ends in crushed almonds. Mmmmm! It was a very unique but tasty treat!! Schmacon already offers a unique, sweet flavor to it, so the white chocolate made it even better. I’m so excited to try Schmacon on my BLTs, with my morning eggs, on top of salads, wrapped around steaks, with shish-kabobs and much, much more!

I would just cook it and eat it with pancakes.
I would cook it in a pan to make blt sandwiches, I bet it’s delicious!
I’d throw it in the oven (best way to cook any kind of bacon) and top a pizza with it! Ooh, or make a beefy bacon quiche.
i would make it with eggs
I would eat it with pancakes and scrambled eggs!
I would cook it with maple brown sugar!
